Ashley is an unique soul, she has a heart of gold, the spirt of a child, and a wonderful energetic personality. I think it's safe to say that she might be one of the funnest people I've had the joy of hanging out with. We've danced, laughed so hard tear were flowing down our faces, worked together and had so many memorable moments that I will never forget. We met at work a little over a year ago and when I first met her I honestly thought she was a model! haha we all did. All of us at work were blown away by her beauty and once we got to know her we knew she was WAY more then that. Ashley is the girl you always wanted to be friends with, she is so kind and not judgmental in any way. She a good egg! I am so blessed to have her in my life. :)

I rarely meet people who are as creative as Jess is. She has a passion for handmade, and even though she is very humble about her work, she is very, very good. I am in awe of her crafts, mostly because I can't even sew a button back on my coat. (I'm seriously horrible) But Jess, Jess is a full time crafter! She is more then just her crafts though, her love for people and God is what defines her. She is surround by people who love her and support her. She recently started making these little dolls that are just the cutest things on the planet. She custom makes them to look like you and your other half or dolls for the little girls in your life. Ryan and I just got some as a gift and I was over the moon. I can honestly say that every time I look at them I just get so happy. :) I can't wait for my children to play with them.

Jess and I spend countless hours showing each other new blogs and things that inspire us. We have a very similar eye for design, colors, and photos. I love that we can just bounce idea's back and forth and we can just know what the others thinking.

Mary is my best friend, she is hands down one of the most positive people I have ever had the joy of knowing. Our friendship started the moment we met, I know that sounds SO cheesy but in our case it's true. We instantly clicked! We attended the same photography school and us along with a wonderful group of friends would hang out daily, encourage each other, help with projects and be the support we needed to get through long hours at school. After a short ten months at school we had to part ways. We have maintained a long distance friendship for three years. I wish we could be in each others live's daily, but with Skype dates, phone calls and dumb text's we manage to stay close! I wouldn't be the person I am without her in my life, she is constantly remanding me that you can make your dreams become a reality if you work really hard and be the best version of yourself. I am so incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful friend. I know I am blessed and I thank God for her all the time.

HELLO LOVES! I am starting a new project that is very close to my heart, I have had this idea for awhile and now I just really can't wait to get it started! I will be photographing the people in my life that are closest to me, I think this is important not only to have these images that last a long time, but to do something for someone, taking the time to capture them. Plus having portraits all my friends is going to be fun! I am very excited.

I am starting this project off with my dear friend Kerry, she is not only one of the most beautiful women I have ever met, but she is kind and caring as well. I can honestly say that I have never laughed as much or as hard with anyone else in my life. I think we get each others humor so much it's scary. Yesterday two of my good friends got engaged. It was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever been apart of, Greg asked if I could take photos for him and I was over the moon! The whole thing was so sweet. I could barely focus on shooting because tears were flowing from my eyes. Jess had no idea this was happening! Greg was so sweet and he said "Jess I'm keeping you forever".

Times like these make me miss one of my best friends in the world. From 7th grade on we've been best friends, every fall we would get so excited about normal fall activities. Cassie and I would take long fall walks and get lost in the beauty before us. We would rake leaves and lay in them, drink coffee, listen to great music and just enjoy the simplicity of life. The air was crisp and the sun was shining and as a fire was crackling we would be so completely content.

This was Cassie, Kaila and I on sept 5th 2003 last swim of the season. :)

This one time, Cassie, Kaila and I were on our way to hay ride and along the way we saw a sign for free kittens... well being cat lovers we had to stop, and we left with two kittens maybe a month old. We couldn't help ourselves, they were just too cute. Not really thinking about if our parents wanted another cat around the house or not. So all day we played with these cute little kittens, they even went with us on the hay ride. It was a perfect day! I'm sure you guessed by now that none of our parents were too pleased with us so we gave them to a family who lived on a farm and were happy to take them. :) It's a great memory.

So now because Cass and I live so far from each other we send letters. I am so thankful to have her and Kaila in my life.

Adam & Sarah : Married

I've had the pleasure of knowing Adam and Sarah for awhile now. They are honestly two of the most genuine, loving, giving, and compassionate people I've met. It is very apparent that the love they have for each other is real. Ryan and I both feel so honored and blessed to of been apart of their wedding. Sarah is not only stunning, but she makes sure everyone around her is taken care of, from the minute I walked in the door she was checking up on everyone and making them comfortable. Her parents were exactly the same, so kind and warm to everyone they met. Adam's love for Sarah brought tears to my eyes, he loves this girl so much. From the way he looked at her to the way he talked about her, everything was so beautiful. These two people are seriously loved by their friends and family. It sounds crazy, but you could feel the love surrounding them all day. It was truly a wonderful day.

We went to Five Guys for lunch and If you have ever been there you know they give you a TON of fries more than one person should ever eat in one sitting. I mean really where did summer go? :( I have had the hardest time lately trying to come up with a "My Life Lately" mostly because nothing has been very exciting lately. Haha kinda sad. My friend Joy has been wanting a dog for some time. She has been on the search for the right pup. A few days ago she met Mr. Bojangles or "Bo", she instantly knew that Bo was the right fit. I love this dog to pieces, he follows Joy everywhere. He is such so cute! I shaped a few photos's of them the other day.

It's no secret that I love pie. Every summer I get the itch to make peach pie. I love it. So today I went about baking as normal, preheating the oven, gathering ingredients, peeling and slicing peaches and when I was all done I went to put my pie in the hot oven, except there was one problem.... my oven wasn't hot. In fact my oven was stone cold. Hmmm. So I just slaved to make this pie and I can't even bake it! :( I ran right over to one of my best friend houses and Joy was gracious enough to let me use her oven. It ended up being a wonderful time, taking and eating pie! :)

A weekend away

The weekend was too short but the trip was great, filled with wine tasting, great food, cute local shops and a lake view hotel room. It was great to wake up and turn our heads to this big beautiful lake, so stunning. The finger lake region is so beautiful! Rolling hills, endless vineyards and breath taking views of the lakes. Something about the open country brings a wave of peace over me. I love it. People were selling fresh produce in their front yards, riding horses and just enjoying the very last days of summer. It's weird to say that, summer is winding down, BUT on the other hand walking around Ithaca today the air was starting to feel crisp, college students busy getting supplies and I instantly started to crave fall. My absolute favorite season. Don't let me get to carried away :).

I took little clip's while we were exploring today so I made a video. Now to be honest I haven't used iMovie since high school. So you can't judge me!

Today is Ryan and my two year wedding anniversary. I can't express enough how unreal this feels. Everyday is better then the last and he makes me smile everyday. Love is so real. I can't wait to spend many more years with him. He really is my soul mate. :)

I am always thinking about how weird it is that someday the things we use everyday will be vintage and antiques. I love finding old interesting things to put in my home and I can't help but think about the girl who will one day stumble upon my old recipe box or whisk and think its an amazing find.

I am a modern girl. Now. But not forever.

We are a generation of portable computers, social networks, and having the internet anywhere we go. We are also a generation of instant gratification. Think about it if you ever have a question about anything you go on your phone and google it. When a page is loading on your computer for more than a 30 sec we start to get antsy. We are constantly texting our friends and when we don't get a response it drives us wild! When all the while we could just call them. When something new comes out we run out and buy it that day. We are a generation of must haves.

I am trying hardest to remove myself from all the clutter that the media throughs our way. I want to spend more time in my kitchen. I was making salsa the other night ( seriously so good) and as I was chopping away I was feeling so content and so happy. There is something very calming about taking time away from our screen's and just do something that makes us happy. I want to cook more meals and have fellowship with friends over the dinner table. So come over anytime! ;)

The older I get the more special having photos of my childhood becomes. I cherish these tiny moments in time with my whole heart. I love reliving memories through photos, some photographs just bring back so much emotion. I honestly don't remember this photo being taken I was probably only one and a half or two here, but something about this photo gives me joy. I am so grateful for my life. I can't believe how wonderful the people in my life are and God amazes me everyday. Just the fact that we are living and are healthy makes me soar over the moon. I cant express my gratitude enough for the simple things we have that we so easily take for granted. I hope that you find the simple things in you're life to be just as powerful. Maybe an old book your grandparents owned or a piece of jewelry that has been pasted down for generations. Or even a letter a loved one has given you. Hold on to these things, keep them alive in your heart and don't loose sight on what they mean to you. These are the things that help mold you and give you your own history. No one else has your story. Just you. That's pretty darn cool if you think about it. Sorry, I'm kinda pouring my heart out here today, but I just love that you are individually made. It's very beautiful.

I have been feeling inspired lately and when this happens I cant help but give in, I day dream at work about new shoots or projects I can do when I am free. On my breaks from work I sneak off to Barnes and Nobel and fall head over heels in love with cookbooks. haha I am like a kid in a candy store, I swear I grab like ten books before I even open one. These people are so talented. I am in awe. I usually walk away feel refreshed and the instantly disappointed I had to leave all those beauties behind. Ladies lets be honest boys are the like cheese on our pizza. Boys are adorable, funny, and somehow without even trying they win our hearts over with a simple smile. They give us something to look forward to and keep us safe. I am very sorry that I have managed to snatch up the most amazing one of all. Well.... I guess I'm not that sorry. :) He fits me.

Being in love is tricky business. I strongly believe being "In love" isn't all about the good times. To be in love one must forget about his or her needs and give whole heartily to that other person. I know first hand that this is no easy task, but boy does it pay off. I am no marriage expert by any means. In fact I feel like I have so much more to learn about marriage. Ryan and I are coming up on our two year anniversary this summer (holy cow) and in these two years we have learned so much about life, love and each other. I am grateful for finding love early on in my life, and I hope that no matter what phase of life you are in you never give up on love. Everyone needs to be loved and to give love.

You meet people in your life you instantly click with, a person you can tell is a "Good Egg" in your book. When this happens you get almost giddy inside because you know that this is that start of something wonderful. That's how I felt when I met Sami. She is warm, bubbly, stunning and seriously one of the best story teller's ever. We met on a muggy summer day in Brooklyn, I remember thinking "This girl is far to cool to be my friend." haha From that day on we have been pals. We spent countless nights on roof tops eating chicken and drinking cold beers, celebrating every little holiday together and just living life as friends. She eventually became one of ryan's roommates and that was awesome! I miss living in the big city and hanging out with Sami.

We both had the same day off this week so she flew up to Rochester to hang out with us for the night/day. It was truly an amazing day or walking around Rochester and enjoying the sunshine. We ate really amazing food and had good chat's.

Hello, my name is Amelia Joy, I have the best mommy and the coolest daddy ever. They love me so so much. Mommy plays with me all day and keeps me happy. My daddy is so funny, he makes me giggle a lot.

Spring in my yard!

This time of year is amazing to me, all the dead becomes alive again. A new beginning for so many and not just plants, I think we as people need this burst of fresh green grass and blooming flowers to look forward. This has been a looooong winter. ugh. I cant tell you how much I, myself have longed for sunshine and blue sky's. It has been a very very rainy spring here in Rochester. I heard that we had 18 straight days of rain or something like that. Ufda. I am greeting this sunshine with open arms.

Yesterday as you all know was mothers day, we had a lovely day with Ryan's family. He has a huge Italian family so I always leave feeling extremely full! I love his family, they know how to make you feel loved and his mom is seriously super woman. She can do anything and everything, plus she is probably the best cook I know. YUM!! :) Ryan's mom is one of those people who will give you the shirt of her back if your cold. She is so generous, loving and beautiful. She is one amazing woman.

I love our family.

I do however get sad around holidays because I cant be with my family even if they are just little ones like yesterday. My mom is so beautiful, talented and special to me. She always makes me feel safe and loved. Her spirit is full of life, she really loves simple beauty and I'm positive thats where I get my love for life from. She has always pushed me to be a good person and do what I love, she has never once made me feel bad about the decisions I have made and continues to support me through anything. I love you mama.

I have a small wonderful little life. I have learned to appreciate what I have, more then anything else, I am thankful to be human. I am so happy that God placed amazing people in my life that I couldn't live with out, he is so good to me. I am thankful to have a roof over my head and shoe's on my feet. I've been in a grove lately, I am trying to spend more time doing what I love. Working out, eating right and spending time with friends and family is a must. Here is a glimpse at me lately.

We all came from somewhere. One place that is so familiar to us we feel like we could drive around with eyes closed. This place now, for many is still home, and for others is only just a locked memory in our tiny minds. What defines "Home"? Is it the house you grew up in and fell so deeply in love with? Or is home the people that make your life complete and give you the sense of being home? Maybe for some home isn't family at all, but close friends. I grew up in a town that is so simple, my summer nights were filled with late night swims, camp fires, and mosquitos. Coffee in the morning by the lake was a necessity, those were the days when nothing mattered. The earth was welcoming us into her hands, taking each day and seeing what it brings. The smell of fresh cut grass and sunblock. This was summer. Now as the weather gets warmer here all I can do is go back there, back to those tiny memories.

I went to high school with this girl named Caroline Smith. She has a beautiful voice and great lyric's. This song reminds me so much of my memory of "Home".

ITS MONDAY FUN DAY!

Hello loves!

How are you? I hope you all had the best weekend. Mine was filled and I mean filled with movies. Hubby and I were both kinda under the weather so we were couch potatoes all weekend. I guess you need that every once in awhile right?! BUT today is a new day and I refuse to sit around and do nothing. I feel so off lately, and I believe its because I haven't been shooting as much as I should. It's hard balancing a full time job, and play. I don't know how people add kids into the mix! Just boggles my mind. Anyways I went to the grocery store today and it made me happy. I don't what it is about having fresh food in my house that makes me have energy. I got some goodies that I wanted to show to you today. One is my favorite meal, its so simple but I'm serious when I say I cant eat this everyday and not get sick of it.

When you add goat cheese and spinach into the mix it is irresistible. Mmmm. Heavenly.

Now cupcakes. If you know me at all you know I love cupcakes. I have to limit myself! haha.

Last year Ryan and I purchased this beauty, a medium format film camera.

Music to my ears.

We didn't know how the photos would come out and it took us so long to get them developed but once we did we fell even more in love with photography. These few photos sparked such wonderful emotion in me. A feeling of being so happy with the simplest thing a photo. Freezing these moments in time that we can never go back to and sharing them with you gives me great joy. These photos are straight from camera the only thing we did was remove a few dust spots that were taking away from the beauty. I am dying to use this on a couple session. Such wonderful light mmmmmm. Ryan Terry took all of these, I was using our digital camera at the shoot. I think he did a great job!

I love black and white. My favorite is the dancing photo. eeek.

I'm in dessert heaven

This trifle combines three of my favorite flavors.

Lemon. Berries. Angel food cake.

Together they make me mouth water and my eyes feel like I'm looking at gold. If your a sweet tooth like me, but are trying to be "good" this year this dessert is not bad. The recipe called for all no fat or low fat goods! When I was making this I couldn't help but think of the friends episode where Rachel makes a trifle for Thanksgiving and puts meat in it because two pages in her cookbook stuck together and everyone pretends they love it. I was secretly hoping I wasn't screwing mine up as well.

These past weeks I've been hibernating. Working is about the only thing that has gotten me out of the house, I alway get like this, this time of the year the "February blues" have really gotten to me this year. I have no energy and all I want to do is curl up on the couch with my cat and watch a movie. As your all aware yesterday was Valentines day and I can say that it was the best valentines I've ever had, Ryan and I stayed in for the night and just spend time together, cooking dinner then a watching a movie.(A CHICK FLICK) it was so what I wanted a night with just my husband. He also surprised me with an ipod shuffle which I have been eying. On the back he had it engraved to say "You're #1 on my playlist" which we both laughed at because it's so cheesy but so wonderful at the same time. I am so thankful to be married to man who gets me. :)

Today I feel alive, refreshed and extremely excited for the future. Near and far. With Christmas quickly approaching I cant help but have all those giddy feelings. Here are some holiday things that make my heart melt.

Flowers are my favorite gift of all time. I love when I come home and I find them sitting on the table <3. Its the way no matter what your feeling they make you smile. These little loves are so greatful saying "Thank you for inviting me in your home". I don't know what it is about them that makes me so so happy. I guess its just real beauty. I also think in some odd way the remind me that life is short so you have to live it to the fullest. Taking everyday making it new, imagine if we all laughed more and worried less. Life would be a lot different and probably more enjoyable. :)

I in awe of how fast time goes, I cant believe that over night summer becomes fall and now fall becomes winter. I love change. How odd would life be if everything stayed the same all the time? Thats what keeps me alive, knowing that no matter what situation you find yourself in good or bad it wont last forever. It keeps me on my toes. Its so exciting to see what new seasons of life will bring. So if you find yourself in a hard place, just take a breather and know that this is not forever! AND its the holiday season and time for love, fellowship and of course FOOD! I love this time of year!! Its really beautiful how much you can bless people around the holidays, something as simple as a smile and kind words can help someone so much. So lets work together to spread love this year! Do all you can, I promise it will be rewarding!

A few weeks ago Ryan's family and I went on a train ride through the woods to look at the fall foliage! haha It was really fun riding on these trains that were used so long ago, and the best part was all the people running the station! They were seriously the cutest old men and women who cared so much for this place, it was awesome. We took a few snap shots of our grand adventure!

This was a really beautiful wedding in many ways, the story that this couple has is incredible. They are not only are they starting a new life together but a whole new family as well. Lindsay has to stunning boys and Jay has this beautiful little girl. All three kids are so precious and loved. It gave me chills to watch Jay look at Lindsay, I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone look so in love before. It was so wonderful to be apart of their day! Their wedding was a backyard wedding, so intimate and perfect for them. It was really awesome to see all the help they had, so many people blessed them on that day. It was amazing.

The kids had a surprise for their parents! They gave them gifts will all of their names on it.

The house the wedding was at had a pool which was perfect for the kids, they got to take a break from the long day and swim! So fun!

Jackie and I go way back, all the way to the seventh grade where I was the new girl at school and her and our good friend jamie befriended me right away and made me feel at home and loved. I remember thinking Jackie was one of the sweetest coolest girls I'd ever met. Our friendship has been such an amazing blessing in my life, this girl is one of the most loyal, smart, hilarious and real people I know. Jackie has this wild side that Im not sure many people get to see, but she gets in this mood and it makes me laugh so hard every time. She is also one of the most driven friends I've have, if she wants something she will work hard until she gets it!! In a few years she will be a great lawyer.

So it's obvious I love this girl a lot and she means the world to me. So of course when she said that she was with someone that makes her as happy as he does, I was beyond trilled. Drew is exactly who I pictured Jackie with. He is so genuine, funny and when he looks at Jackie he eyes light up, Im not kidding either! They do. They make each other laugh and it's such a joy to hang out with these two.

These days are filled with coffee and sweaters. Fall is my soul mate. Although it always makes me miss northern Minnesota like crazy. My dear friend Cassie and I share this love of fall and every year we make a whole day dedicated to being outside falling in love with the change that we see before our eyes. Drinking endless cups of apple cider in a tent by a fire is how we welcomed this new season. A fresh start, a new chapter. So many changes happen in the fall. But one thing will never change I'll always be a Minnesota Girl at heart, no matter where this life leads I will never forget where I came from and how thats made me who I am today.

Summer's sweet song is now starting to sound of fall. Mmmm Fall. My favorite of all the seasons. There is no better feeling then wearing a chunky sweater and high socks on a fall walk. The air is crisp and smells fantastic. Apple pie, apple cider, apple picking. Apples are on everyones mind! Dusk hay rides, hot coco with the perfect rosy cheeks. Let me tell you, being on a boat on the lake wrapped in a blanket in the middle of fall while all the leaves are changing is one of the most beautiful sights you could see. This weekend marks one year of marriage for Ryan and I!! How amazing! What an incredible year it has been. I am so blessed to have the most wonderful husband and I think it's ok if I brag a little. This man is everything I ever wanted and more. When I was in the ninth grade a bunch of girls from my youth group and myself sat down and wrote out what we wanted in a husband one day. Well funny enough Ryan was everything on that list. Crazy right? I think its beautiful. We meet just three short years ago at Hallmark and we instantly clicked. Shortly after we meet I started to form a little crush. We started hanging out all the time and eventually he asked me out! I will never forget that night. We dated 8 short months, then he popped the question! I was at home in MN over christmas, he flew out and surprised me! So sweet. We had a blast planning our wedding, although it was extremely hard living in New York city trying to plan for a wedding in Minnesota and planning to move to Rochester NY! What were we thinking!! Our wedding was a blast! All my closest friends and family all in one room, its so amazing! How often does that happen?! SO that brings us to here and now, one year older and one year more in love. Love is so powerful and so much more than I thought it was. I am lucky girl.

This post is for my dear friend Mary Frances. When I saw her last weekend she told me Queen Anne's Lace is one of her favorite flowers. Now Queen Anne's is actually a weed. But I love that she mentioned this because even " weeds" can be beautiful. It reminded me that we should love all things, even though sometimes " weeds " piss us off and we can easily rip them apart and toss them to the side they are a living thing and to God they are just as beautiful as any other flower. God loves every single person, no matter weed or flower. We should do the same. Take the time to be the better person, smile more, laugh more, care more for others.
